Have you been facing the issue of your Frigidaire dishwasher not turning on or the lights are not coming on? Don’t worry, these kinds of issues are pretty common and there are some very easy way to fix them. But first off, why is your Frigidaire dishwasher not turning on?!
Typically power issues, a problem with the water supply, door not being able to get a good lock or some issue with the touchpad are the most common culprits of your Frigidaire dishwasher not turning on and displaying no lights.
Since there are a number of reasons why your dishwasher might be facing this issue, let’s take a look at some of the ways you can pinpoint the exact problem.
Why Is My Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Turning On?
If your dishwasher isn’t able to turn on and even the lights are not on then there is probably an issue with the power supply.
A word of caution though, if you are not aware about the generals workings of an electrical appliance than make sure you are taking all the precautions before you do anything with it. Make sure that the switch is turned off before you inspect the machine.
Now that we have the precautions out of the way, you should first check if the circuit breaker is tripped or not.
Sometimes when there is a surge in the electrical current being supplied to the system, the breakers tends to trip to protect the appliance from any damage. When the breaker is tripped there won’t be any power supply to the system.
Power Supply Issues
Power supply issues are pretty common and the first thing you should check is the power plug and if there are any loose wires or if the plug has been damaged.
If that is not the case then look for the junction box which is usually located on the right side of the appliance, if you are unable to locate it, check the manual which came with your model. Once you locate it, make sure that all the power cables are connected properly.
Sometimes during installation or if you are moving the, the cables can become loose or get disconnected. This will stop any power from reaching your system.
Another factor you can check is whether the thermal fuse if damaged. This is usually located on the control board. Thermal fuse prevents the control board from short circuiting or overheating. If you are unable to locate the thermal fuse, check the manual which is specific to your model.
If any of these components turn out to be faulty you can usually get them replaced and install them either by yourself or you can get some professional help.
Lock Button Is In ‘ON’ Position
Another reason for your dishwasher not being to turn on is if the lock button is ‘ON’. But if you do have this issue usually the light of the appliance will be on. If you are unable to locate the lock button, try looking at the Heat Dry Pad, in some models the lock function is located on the pad itself. You can either press the lock button or the heat dry pad for about 3-4 seconds to unlock it.
Problems With The Touchpad
If the other buttons such as heat/high have their lights on or if they are flashing but the power button is not responding then take a look at the touchpad itself.
There might be a chance that the touchpad has stopped working or it might be faulty from the start.
The ribbon cable attached to the touchpad might also be behind this. This usually happens if the cables or the pad has been exposed to water or moisture.
You can open the front panel of your dishwasher and make sure the wires are connected properly and if there is any water, it is removed and dried (don’t use a hairdryer as there are electrical components involved).
If the dishwasher is still not turning on then you might have to get a replacement for the touchpad.
Issue With The Water Supply
If the washer is getting its power and the lights are on but still it is not turning on, then there might not be enough water being supplied to the system.
You can check if there is an issue with any of the hoses or the supply valve (make sure it is ON).
If you have access to the water pressure gauge then you can get a better idea about the issue, any reading less than 30psi means that the pressure might need to be increased.
The Door Might Not Be Getting A Good Seal
Your Frigidaire dishwasher won’t be able to work if the door is not able to get a good seal. This happens to prevents any water damage to the rest of the appliance or any accidental leakage.
Is There A Reset Button On A Frigidaire Dishwasher?
You won’t be able to find a dedicated reset button on your dishwasher, but don’t worry, the process to do so is pretty easy.
There are two ways to do this, you can either press the cancel button for about 5 seconds until the lights disappears. You will probably find the ‘cancel’ button on the right side of the panel.
If this doesn’t work you can try tripping the circuit breaker yourself to cut off any electricity supply to the appliance.
After both of these methods, turn the power back on after 5 minutes and hold down the ‘start’ button for a couple of seconds.
Usually this method should be preferred if the lights are not ‘on’ in your system.
Why Won’t My Dishwasher Lights Come On?
If the lights on your dishwasher are not flashing or are not on, then there are two most common reasons for this to happen.
Both of these I have mentioned in the above section related to the dishwasher not turning on but let me go through them in brief here.
The most common issue can be lack of power supply. This can be due to the plug being faulty which is usually located at the back of the appliance.
You can gain access to it pretty easily and check if any wire is loose there. Another reasons for issues with the electric supply might be the circuit breaker being tripped.
Check the breaker panel and if any of the breakers have been tripped, flip them on and try starting your appliance again.
If this is not the case, then the control panel might be faulty. This can happen due to a faulty system itself or if any water or moisture has gone inside the panel.
Conclusion..
As you can see, some of the reasons why your Frigidaire Dishwasher isn’t turning on and if the lights are not on are pretty easy to find out if you know what you are looking for.
But I will suggest seeking professional help if you are not comfortable with handling electrical appliances.
Try doing a simple reset using either of the methods and if that also doesn’t work then look for other possible reasons.
